Why am I such a big fan of Adsense you ask? Adsense is one of  the easiest stay at home jobs available to the Internet entrepeneur  and is a great way of automating your business. Once you do the work it just keeps on churning. Gone are the days when you could knock up a one page site stuffed with keywords, but with decent content on a targeted niche you can still get your site ranked in the search engines. It’s all about providing quality content and writing, writing, writing. Don’t believe me, then check out this  make money with adsense post on the warrior forum. I’m still reading it (it’s 30 pages long) and I’m learning heaps.

While I have a lot of respect for Mr Wagenheim and have bought a lot of his stuff,  I think he’s got it wrong on this one. It’s important that you take advice from trusted sources with a little bit of due diligence on your part as well. Don’t just take a guru’s word for it. They’re human and make mistakes and also have opinions of their own, however right or wrong they are.

Some of them may be true and some may be the usual BS but the fact of the matter is these stories are more often than not hyped to the max. Don’t get me wrong, it is possible to make money with Adsense but I know that it takes a lot of work and the first few months are usually destitute of any monetary gains.

To understand why this is so just takes a bit of understanding about the workings of the Internet. First up you need a website with somewhere to host it or if your hard up for cash get a free blog . Websites these days are pretty easy to knock up in a matter minutes. Where the work comes in is the content. In the days of the early Internet you could knock up a site, fill it with any old keyword laden rubbish, litter it with ads and the traffic would come.

Google has woken up to this and now it’s all about content. If you have rubbish content they will not come because Google will know that your site has no information of any value. If people use the Google search engine and constantly get taken to rubbish sites how long do you think that people will keep using the Internets favorite search engine.

If content is king, backlinks are queen. What I mean by this is it sure is great to have a site with quality content but if nobody knows you’re there how will they find you? Google’s little robots scour the Internet bouncing from link to link making sure that the content is valid. The more links it finds on relevant sites with quality content that link back to your site the higher up the SERP’s your site will get.

Some sites have more importance than others. A really important site is called an Authority site and getting a backlink from one of these to your site should be your number one priority. Fortunately some of these sites are easy to get backlinks from. An example of two of these is Ezine Articles and Squidoo.

Ezine articles is a publisher site. You write an article about the topic your web site deals with and post it. If it passes mustard then they publish it. The link part of the deal comes in your author bio which has a link back to your site. Squidoo is a site where you can basically make your own page about anything you can imagine. Affiliate marketers use Squidoo to write about products that they are promoting and either link directly to the products squeeze page or to one of their own domains. I recommend any affiliate marketer get their own piece of Internet real estate. The level of control you have over something you own has no equal in the Internet marketing world.

Squidoo basically lets you do your own thing within very broad guidelines. Ezine Articles is heavy on the rules and it can be hard to get your first article published. One thing they have in common though is that you still need to do some research and publish quality information. Most Internet users are information hungry and in a lot of cases are willing to pay but they do know quality when they see it and it doesn’t take long for them to hit the back button if they see crap.

So if you want to be successful in Adsense you need to realise that it’s going to take time. Months or years to be realistic. It’s also going to take lots of quality content and lots of quality backlinks to get the traffic. If your lazy and are after a get rich quick system then Adsense it isn’t it but to the person willing to put in the groundwork and invest the huge amount of time then the rewards can be plenty. The beauty of it is that you can do all the work once and then reap the rewards for ever.
