There are essentially two types of pay per click affiliate programs that you can join up to. The first one is as an ad server type program similar to Adsense. You sign up with them and put their ads on your websites. Businesses who have signed up with them have their advertisements placed on the banner on your site and are usually context sensitive in a similar fashion to Google Adwords. You have two ways of making money with these programs. By putting their banner on your site you make money when someone clicks on an ad. The second method is by promoting the ad provider itself. You get a commission whenever someone signs up under your user name.

The other pay per click affiliate system works by you placing an advertisement from a vendor on your website and every time a viewer clicks on an ad you make a bit of cash.
