I thought that I was getting pretty good with niche marketing and finding good leads on creating niche websites. I’ve created a few in the last couple of months and one of them is even starting to trickle in the adsense revenue. Not much but it’s a start. Turns out that I got lucky with that particular keyword phrase. The other two are absolute crap according to this new (to me anyway) research method and the ads will work out to about .09c a click which is probably 1 or 2 cents to me. I still need to get traffic to those sites so they are making zilch at the moment and probably won’t make much at all unless I put some affiliate stuff in there. Oh well, lesson learnt and not all hope lost yet.

I’ve put this post in the website flipping category because I’ve always had a dream of making websites, getting them established and selling them off for a profit. I think it’s a beautiful thing when you can create a website from virtually nothing and turn it into something that has real value. That is awesome and this system is perfect for doing that on a large scale.

I will be creating a separate category for the Keyword Academy because I’ m going to keep track of my progress via this site and document the steps that I take to get a website up and profitable. So far I’ve done keyword research and created a domain for my first website. Not sure how many I’ll make but I’ll probably only have time for 2 or 3 at this stage. The recommended amount is somewhere between 10 to 30 so as to hedge your bets. Most websites will make a bit of money using this method and some will do better than others but to make the target of $1,000 a month you probably need at least 10.

Go to the Keyword Academy to check out their stuff. I’m impressed and I think most people will be. It’s not a get rich quick scheme and requires a lot of work so be prepared. The business model is a monthly subscription service but for a $1.00 trial you get access to everything in the course so far and you can cancel at anytime. If you’re not prepared to spend even that much to get access to some valuable info then you’re in the wrong business.

Fortunately the skills are easily learned. With website flipping you have two basic options. You can buy someone else’s website from one market and resell it in another market for a profit. This requires very little skill and you just need to have a good eye for buying profitable websites that are easy to sell for a profit. You will need to read up on domain registration and web hosting but that side of web development is extremely easy. An important point to remember is to make sure the site you are buying has a domain name that relates to the niche on which the website is based around.

The other option is to actually create the website yourself, build it up by adding good content, monetize it and sell it a couple of months later for a good profit margin. This is my preferred method as it allows me to get creative and add immense value to the site by promoting it so that it gets traffic and a few sales. A profitable website is obviously going to be more valuable to a purchaser and can sometimes fetch a few thousand dollars.

In between the two options there are of course variations in what you can do. You can buy a website that is already hosted, then add value to it with affiliate links and PPC ads. To increase your chances of a sale I recommend sticking with affiliate links through Clickbank and Google Adsense. These are the easiest systems which just about anybody can join up to. You don’t want to have sales coming from an affiliate program with strict requirements as the buyer will have to delete these ads if they get rejected from the program. This will only end up devaluing the website.

There are a few things to look out for when purchasing a website for resale. Check the site for duplicate content at Copyscape so you get an idea of whether you’re buying a rehashed website. Don’t get carried away by statistics as they can be fudged, always do your research. Check to make sure the website isn’t banned on Google from iwebsite and always ensure, if you’re buying an established website, there are at least a few quality back links. You won’t be able to guarantee you won’t get a dud but you can increase your chances of getting a good deal.

With the right keywords, a domain that relates to the target market, an attractive design, and excellent content you can make a good living reselling websites on the Internet. It’s not going to make you rich overnight but it’s one of the easiest stay at home jobs and it gives me the most satisfaction due to it’s creative potential.
